Electives can and should be enrolled with some specific objective in mind. Certain graduate programs and career paths may require that the student take more than the 12 courses specified above to be adequately prepared to enter the program or profession. Internship opportunities are also available to accounting majors although they do not count toward the major requirements.
(TAX 3300 is not included in this restriction and may be taken with two ACC courses. ) Eligibility Requirements for Advanced Accounting Courses To be eligible to take the two advanced accounting courses (ACC 4100 and ACC 5400) necessary to complete the accounting major, students must achieve an average GPA of at least 2. 5 in the following four courses: ACC 3000, 3100, 3200, and 3202. Requirements for Transfer Students: A minimum of 8 credits of 3000 level accounting courses must be taken at Baruch College, Only courses completed at Baruch College count toward the determination of the 2. 5 GPA for eligibility to take advanced accounting courses, Transfer credit is not available for 4000 and 5000 level accounting courses. Please Note: The Zicklin School of Business does not accept Undergraduate Second Degree students into the Accounting Program (in effect as of Fall 2011). As an alternative, applicants currently holding a bachelor's degree of any kind are advised to apply for admission to the Zicklin School's Master of Science (MS) program in Accounting.
