Dear sysadmins, i need some help or maybe some advise. I can't find a list like this for things like my Domain Controller with ADDS role installed. I want to build a monitoring with Paessler PRTG where I will add the SNMP windows sensor so that I can monitor the for example 20 needed services to ensure that exchange or AD or whatever runs correctly. Or do you have a better idea how to monitor things like this? Thanks in Advance for your help.

SCOM Parent/Child device alert filtering? : sysadmin

If I use WMI it will just grab the Windows Network Card which works 100% of the time WMI Service - Self explanatory. I have a specific service I want to monitor for up/down and CPU metrics. We have a service installed across the board and it can be a problem child. I need to keep tabs on it because when it goes down it creates an issue. As far as I can tell the common suggestions to get WMI working as a non admin account include the following steps: Add user to Distributed COM Users Group on Server Add user to Event Log Readers group on Server Add user to Performance Log Users group on Server Add user to Performance Monitor Users group on Server Open and update security permissions on root level to include AD Service account (various permissions need to be added) So using those steps above, I successfully got the WMI Multi Disk and Windows Network Card Sensors working fine however, the WMI Service Sensor would not work. It spit back an error of 80041003: The current user does not have permission to perform the action.

Hi All, We are looking at transitioning from a RDS/Virtual environment to a thick client one and are looking for remote monitoring software which can show use utilisation of the resources of a users machines. What we are after, is for example, say a developer has an i7 and 32GB of RAM for their web dev work and says its slow. We want to be able to see if they are maxing out their processor and/or RAM to give them the proper resources, or to call them out on it. Has anyone used any tools like this or can anyone let me know if they have heard of anything they could advise me of that might be capable of this? *EDIT* - thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I am trying to see for health check modules from ansible. I did not see much from ansible modules. Can some one let me know is there any modules available from ansible to do healthcheck on network and windows servers. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm looking to monitor my Windows and Veeam backups with SNMP. I haven't had a proper look into how to do Veeam ones yet but if anybody has any good advice I'd appreciate it. My main problem is the Windows backups, I just can't seem to find a way to monitor them with SNMP, I'm currently using PRTG but I'd be happy to use something else if it's not possible to monitor them with that. Thanks! This thread is archived New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast level 1 NetCrunch 8 has advanced SNMP support, including SNMPv3 and a library of 7, 000 precompiled MIBs. Not sure if they'll be there, but if not, there's also a MIB compiler to make the monitoring easy. If you do have any questions, i can help as i do work at AdRem. level 1 I assume you've tried these pages on getting SNMP to give notices on backups for Veeam? level 1 Zabbix or Nagios, but you will have to write custom code (or use the community's code) to get down into specific things.

I like the "more buttons and knobs are better" approach. Networking hardware/software should be powerful and capable before pretty. UniFi seems to address this backwards - beautiful and useless. Looking at you DPI. Stats are cool. I'd like whatever solution I use to have a known pathway to Grafana (SNMP, custom scripts, etc).

Does anyone have an educated guess on what might be the issue? The PRTG Probe Service Server is Windows 2019 Standard and the test server is Windows Server 2016 Standard. Permissions for the service account in were duplicated from the localhost\administrators account as a last ditch effort to try and get the service monitoring working.
